Something Interesting

In this weeks reading, i found that the website for cause and effect to be the most useful because not only is it commonly used but it is high used in court. I am glad that the professor gave us a website on what the cause and effect is and gave people detailed descriptions on what makes the cause and effect model valid. I find that people use cause and effect situations to argue about. For example, there was a car stopped at a red light and another approaching from behind but was busy texting and could not stop in time, so the car from behind rear ended the car in front making it cause a traffic collision inside the intersection with other cars. Here, clearly the person from the back was at fault because he or she was texting and was not paying attention to the road and as a result, they caused a traffic collision that could have claimed some lives. I found this reasoning to be amusing because i did not know that we use cause and effect daily. But since i read and understood the concept of the reasoning, cause and effect is clear to me.

  1. I too felt the same way about cause and effect. I thought that it was useful. People use cause and effect in everyday life. You made it really clear to me about what a cause and effect reasoning is. Good thing that cause and effect is clear to you now. I thought it was pretty easy because once again, people use this type of reasoning daily, and especially in courts. The judge has to go through cases using cause and effect, so he or she can make a ruling. I agree that your example is a cause and effect reasoning. The cause is that the second car was texting and not paying attention to the road, and the effect was that the second car rear-ended the first car. Great example!

  2. I agree with you entirely from your opinion about the cause and effect reading. You made it really clear, especially with the example of the car accident. Rear-end accidents is caused by the driver from the back since they were unable to force the brakes on time. The person that was texting was the one who caused the accident because he/she was not paying attention to the road. The driver who was texting would not only cause the accident, but would also get fined for texting and driving in California! Your post helped me understand about cause and effect better. Cause and effect happens every day in many situations.

  3. I feel the same way you do; your blog was almost everything I have to say about the cause and effect website. we all really use the cause and effect concept on a daily basis. like i said in my blog, when it comes to cause and effect, there are gray areas and not just one right answer. for example, an accident caused by the person obviously at fault could also be the result of something else, like the driver trying to avoid hitting someone else which then caused the accident. the cause and effect website helps you to analyze situations into smaller details. overall, good job with your blog.
